Heartcount Privacy Policy
Effective October 8, 2026
Heartcount is the usage counter that Happy Heart Software's apps use to learn which of their features get used. It runs on our own Cloudflare account. Each app's own privacy policy says which features it counts.
What an app sends
When you use a counted feature, the app sends a short message naming the feature (for example "puzzle_open") along with a few fixed details about it (for example whether the puzzle came from a shared link) — labels, yes/no values and small numbers chosen by the app's developers, never anything you typed or created.
Journeys
An app can also send the order in which its features were used during one visit — just the feature names, for example "opened a puzzle, then looked up a word, then completed it". The app keeps that list only in memory and sends it once, when you leave or switch away from it. It carries no identifier, so visits can't be connected to each other.
What we keep
Only running totals per day: "on this date, this feature was used this many times with these details, in this version of the app (for example web or Android)", and "this sequence of features happened this many times". We do not keep a record of each individual use or visit, so there is nothing that could be connected to you or to your other visits.
What we don't keep
- No IP addresses. Like every web server, Cloudflare sees your IP address to deliver the message; Heartcount uses it only as the key of a short-lived, in-memory counter that blocks floods of messages, and never stores it.
- No cookies, device or advertising identifiers, sessions or fingerprints.
- No browser, device, screen, language or location details, and no times more precise than the day.
- No page addresses or referrers.
Who sees it
Only Happy Heart Software staff, who sign in to the Heartcount dashboard with their own accounts. The counts are not shared with or sold to anyone.
Dashboard accounts
This applies only to Happy Heart Software staff, not to people using our apps: a dashboard account holds a name, email address and password hash, and signing in sets one cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. Sign-in attempts are limited per IP address with an in-memory counter that isn't stored.
